about us

Anchor 1

The Lesson Barn is a small barn, with a big family feel! We are located close to both Winston and Greensboro and we are only two miles off of I 40. We offer riding lessons for all levels of riders from very beginner to advanced riders. Lessons are taught by our experienced instructors on our farm-owned lesson horses. In addition to lessons, we offer birthday parties, camps, clinics, a fantastic youth club, and so much more! The Lesson Barn is a sister operation to Heritage Farms and Heritage Carriage Company who you might have seen giving tours around Old Salem! Heritage Farms is owned and operated by Steve and Anne Allred with assistance from their children, Sam and Stephanie. We truly believe in creating a wholesome experience that encourages life long horse people, so come on out and see us!

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the right age to start riding?
We recommend that parents wait until the student is at least 5 years old to begin riding. This allows for the student to be able to focus and stay attentive for the full 30 minutes of the lesson.
  • What do I wear to my first riding lesson?
Although eventually you will need to have proper riding attire, long pants and hard soled, closed toe shoes will work just fine for your first lesson!
  • How do I schedule?
To set up a lesson, birthday party, or add yourself to one of our camps, please either call Anne at (336)784 8419 or shoot us an email and we will get right back to you!
